The ultimate Adult Friend Finder (AFF) review

Try Adult Friend Finder

A cross between a cam site, a hookup site, and a kinky kind of social media, Adult Friend Finder (AFF) has it all for individuals and couples alike who are looking to get laid. Not your grandma’s dating site, AFF is swinger-friendly and promises possibilities for people of all romantic persuasions – but does it live up to its hype?

First Glance

Registering on AFF is a snap, and is an immediately more queer and kink friendly site than other hookup sites like Flirt.com. From the get-go, you are greeted with multiple options for gender and attraction: you can be a (cis)man, (cis)woman, or trans* member (although for now, you can’t designate trans*man, trans*woman, or nonbinary). In addition, you can be a couple with a man and a woman, two women, or two men. When you choose who you’re looking for, you can select as many of those options as you want.

The moment you sign up, a new screen pops up encouraging you to input credit card information for a Gold Membership with tiered pricing:

  • 1 Month for $39.95
  • 3 Months for $80.85 ($26.95 per month)
  • 6 Months for $239.40 ($19.95 per month)

It’s a little frustrating that you aren’t given the chance to look around before they start pestering you for credit card information, but you can click out of the screen and browse for free, to get a feel for the site before going full throttle. However, it quickly becomes clear that a Gold Membership is what makes the site usable, giving you unlimited access to messaging, photos, and chatrooms – otherwise, you’re barred from these essential features.

This website, like many others, is prone to scammers; as soon as I signed up, I was bombarded with several bot-like messages from people looking to get to know me, despite the lack of information or photo on my profile – but so long as you head in with a little wariness, you should be fine.

The Dating Pool

Being a hookup site, you know AFF is ripe with horny people of all genders and relationship situations looking to get it on. You can filter through thousands of people by looks, preferences, and age to find those who match your fantasy, or just search for folks near you.

Unlike other dating and hookup sites, AFF transparently offers couples, and you can even search just for them. A couple offers a rare and overwhelming chance to be doted on and devoured by two eager people at once – and this site is full of couples looking for a third (or fourth) to join in their fun. The couples are doms and subs, swingers, unicorn hunters, and ethically nonmonogamous alike, looking for others to please.

The fun in the dating pool doesn’t end there: AFF is a remarkably kink-friendly site, truly designed with kinksters’ needs in mind. There’s a tab that lets you search by kink, and then filter by people within 100 miles of you. Although that sounds kind of far, it’s not so bad once you realize that these people are then arranged by closest first. The kinks to filter by are diverse, including needle play, humiliation, cuckolding, and rough sex, giving you a good chance of truly fulfilling your kink fantasies.

Whoever you choose, and even if you’re looking for some good ole vanilla lovin’, everyone on the site is transparent about what they’re there for: sex, sex, and more sex, which avoids a lot of the miscommunication that you find on sites like Tinder. There are tons of genuine, sex-positive people here eager to meet with you either in the real world or as your long-distance lover.

Unique Perks

AFF has a host of features that set it apart. For starters, you have your own userpage that is kind of like a kinky and sexy throwback to the Myspace days. You can see someone’s activity, recently added friends, and mutual compatibility. If you upgrade and pay, you can access more personal details and their extra photos – although that doesn’t stop most profile photos from being truly NSFW.

AFF also lets you cam and broadcast your experiences with other members. This camming earns you points that you can redeem for prizes like vibrators, bondage kits, and a month of a gold membership. These points can even be redeemed for cash at $100 per 50,000 points (that’s $0.002 per point).

But that’s not the only way to earn points. AFF promotes and encourages sexy community engagement by giving you points for things like confirming your ID for 500 points ($1), creating a blog post for 20 points ($0.04), and responding to an initial message for 5 points ($0.01). These points not only help users get some cool bonuses, but also help establish a sense of sexy and kinky community and keep users active.

When not earning points, you have chance to filter who you view by whether they’re online, on IM, nearby, new, VIP, or kinky like you. This website is genuinely nonjudgmental and embraces your sexual preferences, no matter what they may be.

The catch

Like a lot of desktop-based dating sites these days, very little is free. You can’t communicate with people, exchange information, or even see more than their first photo without paying. The membership is $39.95 per month, which is rather steep if you’re just looking to hook up – and it feels a whole lot steeper once you realize that in 2016, AFF and its parent company got hacked, exposing 412 million accounts’ sensitive information.

Conclusion

If you’re willing to hand over some money, AFF is a great kinky, and queer-friendly space with sex-positive vibes that’ll help you land exactly the sexy opportunity you’ve been seeking. But when there are popular spaces like FetLife and Feeld for free, you’ve got to ask yourself if it’s worth it to cough up the dough and risk getting hacked – or if you’re better off using one of those free sites instead. The choice is all yours. I'm giving it a 4.5/5 stars.
